    Banchikwang: The Foul King

Marketed as the Korean "Office Space," the "Foul King" topped the list of popular South Korean films when it hit theaters in 2000, falling just below "Gladiator" and "Mission Impossible II".

The story follows Dae-Ho (Kang-ho) who works in an office...what he does, I'm not sure, but his boss hates him and repeatedly puts Dae-Ho into headlocks. While Dae-Ho may be a slacker: lives with his dad, is late to work, and overall being pitiful, he has one secret passion: wrestling. After work he goes to a wrestling gym and learns how to be a professional wrestler and fight dirty (he uses kitchen wear and other such weaponry), adopting the moniker 'The Foul King'. His ultimate match is against a Japanese fighter who fights dirty (and no one else wants to fight him). Will Dae-Ho emerge victorious? Will he quit his job? Will he ever break out of his boss' headlock?

This film is funny without being overly predictable (which is the problem for most "sports" films). American audiences may not always understand what is going on...and probably won't appreciate the Confucian ideals...but it is still a fun film and more than just a run-of-the-mill sports flick.

--: this is the type of film that requires a group of people to watch (you can't watch it alone), and most of the funny parts are even better when shared with others
Recommended: it has humor, action/sports, a story...mostly humor. If you like Office Space or other such comedies this is the film for you!!
