The Invisible Man Returns

"Orders to shoot on sight... I thought he said the bloke was invisible."

Geoffrey Radcliffe (Price) is sentenced to death for the murder of his brother, Michael. As a last resort, his fiance Helen Manson (Grey), and friend Dr. Frank Griffin (Sutton) 

Dr. Frank Griffin's (Sutton) late brother make a risky decison: restore Griffin's late brother's experiment in invisibility to save Geoffrey.

Helen finds a safe place to hide with Geoffrey. Frank works round the clock to find a way make Geoffrey visible again, before the drugs make him insane. Geoffrey also wants to find his brother's murderer and clear his name. With his cousin Richard Cobb (Hardwicke) and Inspector Sampson (Kellaway) in pursuit, will Geoffrey succumb to madness or will he save the day?

Sequel to the 1933 The Invisible Man.

The Good:

John Sutton, always love him. The effects are impressive, especially for the 1940s. It is a solid cast.

The Bad:

This was one of Vincent Price's earliest roles. While he seems like an obvious choice for this character, his madness scenes are a bit much.

 

Other Comments:

-Nominated for the Oscar for Best Special Effects in 1940.

-Tries too hard to duplicate the original and H.G. Wells 1897 novel. It isn't terrible, but it also isn't as good as the first film. 

-Universal made 4 more films in the Invisible Man series: The Invisible Woman, Invisible Agent, The Invisible Man's Revenge,  and Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man.
